The rising electricity bills are becoming a big concern for middle-class families. In such a situation, installing a solar system at home is a great way to save money. The good news is that under the PM Surya Ghar Yojana, the government is helping people set up on-grid solar systems that do not need a battery. One such smart and affordable option is the TATA 1kW Solar System, which comes with high-quality panels and long-lasting performance. The best part? After the subsidy, this setup costs almost nothing!

What is an On-Grid Solar System?

An on-grid solar system is directly connected to the power grid. It does not need a battery to store electricity. During the day, when sunlight is available, the solar panels generate power, which is used to run your home appliances like fans, lights, TV, fridge, and more. If the solar system produces more electricity than your requirement, the extra power is sent back to the grid. In return, your electricity provider gives you credit or even a small income depending on your net usage. Since you don’t need to buy expensive batteries, the overall cost of the system becomes much lower.

Cost of TATA 1kW Solar System Without and With Subsidy

The total cost of a 1kW on-grid solar setup from TATA, including solar panels, inverter, and installation, usually ranges between ₹45,000 to ₹60,000. However, the PM Surya Ghar Yojana provides a huge subsidy to bring this cost down significantly. The central government offers a subsidy of up to 60%, while many state governments add an extra 15% to 30%. This means you can receive a total subsidy of up to 75%. For example, if your solar system costs ₹50,000 and you get a 75% subsidy, you will only have to pay ₹12,500 from your own pocket. This makes switching to solar energy much more affordable for common households.

How to Apply for Subsidy Under PM Surya Ghar Yojana

Getting the subsidy is not a difficult task. You need to visit the official PM Surya Ghar Yojana portal and register using your electricity bill details. After registration, you can choose an approved vendor like TATA, submit your application, and complete the installation process. Once the system is installed and verified, the subsidy amount is credited to your bank account or adjusted in the total bill. The entire process is online and takes only a few steps to complete.
